I don't want to reveal any spoilers for those who haven't received theirs yet. I will just say that the first thing i did was watch the DVD. Sam, you really did a fine job, and you definitely have a talent for weaving a story together from a lot of different elements. Haven't dug into the EP heavily yet, but a quick spin through reveals it to be heavy and brutal. Like all Stavesacre, it will reveal its layers over time.
There are just a handful of artists -- maybe three or four -- who have had a profound impact on my life. And the older I get, the more precious that impact has become. Stavesacre is one of those bands. Your music, in combination with its anointed, prophetic lyrics, came into my life at a time when the Holy Spirit decided it was needed, and it helped move me on in my journey toward becoming whole.
Thank you.
I hope this isn't the last we'll hear from Stavesacre. Don't give up your friendships, don't give up on the music, and don't give up on God. The best is yet to come.
Blessings in Christ to each of you and your families.
G.

At Cstone Mark said that they're basically just seeing how it goes. There's no interest to get on a label but it sounds like the band is entering Choir territory, where they'll do their own thing and sometimes make a record. Which is fine by me.
As far as the EP, it's very good, five straight hard rockers. The Against the Silence riff is awesome live. I find the production quality was a bit low, it's not -bad- and not POOR like the self-titled but the sound is not as "full" as the best Stavesacre. I do wish Mark's vocals were left alone though; they are effected and distorted in every track. Which does fit the edgy rock sound of the EP but I like his voice so much. Going to watch the DVD this afternoon.

Hmm. I'd say the production's pretty darned good on the EP. Sounds really immediate. Compared to the self-titled and the Split/EP, it's way better.

I mostly noticed in the car... it seemed to be harder to listen to at high volume than most of the stuff. It's not bad production but the low end isn't that prominent. It's definitely better than the self-titled. Absolutely go out and buy it though!

Thanks for the review! Looking forward to my copy arriving I loved being able to hear the bass on HTLWAC but it's all good either way... I'm going to enjoy the heck out of it regardless. If Stavesacre releases an EP every year or two it would be a good way to keep interest alive and bring in some new fans and some sales of previous works. Not a bad strategy for guys who have lives beyond just the band itself and probably can't commit to releasing a full-length album as easily as maybe they could in the past. Perhaps the biggest thing we can do is help promote it.

I listened more to the EP today, and I would hazard to say that there are no audio issues with this, folks. It rocks.

I just watched the dvd. I really enjoyed the entire thing, a lot, but I was hoping for a little more history of the band/albums/etc. I was pretty stoked by the Zao dvd, guess my expectations were a bit high - but not to say I was disappointed with what I saw or how the dvd came out - One band I always wondered why they didn't blow up.

Got mine today! This sounds good guys...like Friction/Absolutes good (content wise that is, I agree about Mark's vocals, I'm rather fond of them myself...don't know why each track needed to be so heavily distorted and poopoo on the loudness wars). In fact this sounds like it could have come betwixt the two. Great job Stavesacre. I haven't watched the video yet (it's been a rather busy day after work) but I did do much driving around and got to listen to the disc several times. Not a weak track. Full album on the way? *hint* *hint*. No pressure fellas, I'm thankful to have this. Welcome back Jeff! Edit: Oh yeah, nice nod to the "old timey" artwork too Edit2: Hey, if you guys are retrofiting your sound, let's have some of those fantastic melodic interludes that last several minutes too
