discuss.... my top 3 are Smashing Pumpkins, Stavesacre, and Social Distortion. After those 3, it's a free-for-all: Project 86, Klayton Scott, Embodyment, Blindside....

Hard to pick just five, but here's what I've been listening to lately...
Stavesacre, Killswitch Engage, Lamb Of God, Downset, Saviour Machine.
The new Lamb of God album came out yesterday and it is insane! I love the politics of the album; it's great to hear a metal band speak out against the war in Iraq. Maybe they can join that tour with Bruce Springsteen...

Mmmm Pumpkins...
The new albums by Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, and FSF are good. Also been listening to a little old Cake.

*Stavesacre isn't gonna be included in this list, cause of course, they're already number one, obviously, so I'm just gonna do the others.
Led Zeppelin (always another fav), Project 86, Blindside (A Thought Crushed my mind, thats the only one I've really liked, but I've never heard the first one), Franz Ferdinand, the Hives, and The Polyphonic Spree. Thats six, and I don't care.

howbout Incubus... they rock my socks off. Im also really into A Perfect Circle right now. lets see... Mark Tremonti's new band - Alter Bridge... oh my gosh he's a good guitarist. Finch and Story of the Year are my guilty music (as in i dont want anyone to find out that i actually like them)... The latest P.O.D. cd is pretty good, for my hardcore/numetal moods i got sevendust and the new slipknot cd (so much better than their old stuff) thats a whole lot more than three or however many. sorry. dont be mad.

Stavesacre has been my favorite band since At The Moment was a pre-release single. So, like others here of course, they are above and beyond lists. But moving on...
I've really been into Soundgarden lately. Badmotorfinger is a great CD.
Circle of Dust (and now Celldweller) has always been one of my favorites.
Michelle Tumes I like a lot.
And then the Stone Temple Pilots. I like them a lot.
And U2. One of the all time great bands.
And that's how it is. I'll stop saying "and" now. Thanks for watching.

Let's see...best bands ever
1. Stavesacre-simply untouchable 2. Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler....absolutely unbelievable, you will never hear guitar work like this guy ever again anywhere...that's the truth. 3. Project 86 - Andrew Schwab is a lyrical genious/mastermind 4. Chirs Carrabba (early Further Seems Forever/Dashboard Confessional) 5. Black Eyed Sceva - if you've never heard of them, you have missed the single greatest band that NO ONE has ever heard of. Holy Cow.
As for whoever said they like Lamb of God and their whole political Anti-Bush/Anti-Iraq War, go back to France.
I understand that music is about passion and desire, and that people try to show views and explain feelings through it--but it shouldn't be the goal of the musician to push hatred and narrow-minded views on people. Hence the reason that Stavesacre never preached at their shows (read Mark's book if you haven't). It's like, do your own thing and give people freedom to absorb--not shove politics down someone elses throats...
Do I seem too one-sided? Do you think you know where I stand politically? Even if you do, that isn't the point of this post or this topic....so sorry for tangenting (is that a word?)

1) Of course Stavesacre is always at the top of my list. No matter how many times I have to listen to their older stuff over and over and over again since I don't have any new stuff (hint, hint, hint guys...).
2) Project 86 pushed really hard for my number one spot with their latest. It's absolutely incredible. I also still listen to Truthless Heroes a LOT. I don't care what anyone thought, that was and IS an incredible compilation of songs.
The list starts to get muddled from here, with a lot of different bands shifting up and down from day-to-day, but here's where I am currently.
3) Dead Poetic - I love their new CD. I've been listening to it a lot lately.
4) Old school Deftones (White Pony and earlier) have gotten a lot of play time from me lately.
5) I've also revived some old Faith No More from back in the day lately too. I REALLY like their sound. Even with so much of the different stuff that's come out in recent years, I still think they had/have their own unique sound. Very cool stuff.
