So my son(10) and daughter(13) have discovered the world of youtube.com. They watch quite a bit of AMV's(Anime Music Video's) created by other users. Those are basically videos that someone has reedited and synched with music. Through this my son has discovered Linkin Park. A couple of their songs anyway. The End and something else.
I'm concerned about content of the lyrics as well as the group itself. So... I'm looking for Christian substitutes. Bands that flow along that same style of play but the lyrics and the bandmembers don't reflect that worldly view. Y'know?
So can anyone suggest some, Stavesacre is one that comes to mind for me. What are some others?
Bobby

Thanks. I thought about Pillar. Also, POD, Thousand foot crutch, skillet, jonah33 and a few others. Just trying to find something he can really relate too and enjoy.
Thanks again, Jhilahd

NEWSBOYS.... try the "step up to the microphone" CD or "Thrive" It's been a while since I've listened to any CCM, but...really?

Sorry but yeah, Newsboys may be a little dated for a young teen.
Bobby I've never heard any of their stuff but I hear a lot of talk about Falling Up.

LP doesn't really have too much bad stuff in their music - it's mostly just good angry, angsty teen music. "My December (the original version)" is an amazing song. He could be listening to "worse" stuff, at least from a christian perspective.
But since you're in the market for alternates... POD's alright. TFK's kinda rap-rock type stuff - they're getting mainstream radio play. Some of Skillet is ok. I saw Jonah 33 way back before they got their record deal - decent stuff. Never really was a fan of Pillar. Definately not Newsboys. Nothing against them, but they're not really the same genre as LP.
Additionally I'd recommend Lucerin Blue and Dead Poetic.

a thought: if you start associating "christian music" with "what mom likes" in their mind, you might be gauranteeing that that they'll sneak real music around you as they enter their more rebelious years. i know too many people who did that as kids. to an extent, i did too.

I can't stand bands like thousand foot crutch and the like... though anything on Tooth and Nail / Solid State should suffice.

i think you'd be hard pressed to find a "christian" band like linkin park. Lp has a unique sound, and id hate to hear any cheesy "christian" knockoffs. 'Disciple' is ok ( lol i just found meteora inside my disciple cd case.. was wondering were that got to) some heavy guitars and the token scream.

Disciple, Beanbag and Pillar could all be given a try.

I'd say give Project 86, Skillet (the latest 2 albums), Showbread, Blindside, maaaybe Family Force 5.
