Hey everyone. If any of you are Saviour Machine fans, check out ther new(ish) message board at guitar6.com/saviourmachine/Sam of course played on Saviour Machine's first album. You'll also find a decent disucssion about Stavesacre in the General section.

that is a good question. They *were* distributed by Diamante... who went out of business 3 or so years ago. As far as I know no one picked their stuff up again. I'd say various online stores (radrockers, blastbeats, etc) and ebay are probably the main options.

You can order their 2002 DVD and the recent Rarities release (4 cds!) at www.saviourmachine.com. As for Legend III:II, it is still in production. Vocals, choirs, drums, guitars, samples/effects and orchestral arragements have been recorded and roughly mixed. Speaking parts, piano and bass still need to be recorded. I wouldn't expect it until 2007. I can say it will be worth the wait. Imagine the complexity and darkness of Legend II during the first half of the CD followed by some of the most beautiful arrangements they've ever recorded on the second half. It's pretty unreal.

I was going to buy the first few SM albums Sam West was on. How does his drumming compare to the later Legend album's drumming and vs. his Stavesacre stuff?

The first SM album is good, Sam is always a great drummer. Also check him out on early Scaterd-few albums. Sin Disease is one of my favourite albums of all time. And Jawboneofanass is great, too. Scaterd Few is where I first saw him play (Cstone '91).

*passes out from shock*
*recovers*
HA!! hahahhaahahaaaahhahahahhhahahahaa.....*holds sides*...hahahaaa....oh man ohmygod SAVIOUR MACHINE! i didn't know sam played for them! oh man that's hilarious! HA! holy maryjosephbuddhasaintpatrick, i wish i knew sam well enough to give him a metric ton of shit for that. it's like when i found out that mark hamil did the voice of the joker on batman the animated series. luke skywalker and the joker were the same person? it just seems so ...wrong. the only way that this could get better was if dirk played for stryper or something.

Scaterd Few is where I first saw him play (Cstone '91). It is a great crime against humanity that I own neither of those Scaterd Few albums. I loved "Grandmother's Spaceship" and the Spy Glass Blue side project. I think I may have to start combing ebay for those... h- I don't quite get why you'd give him "a metric ton of shit" for that. It's one thing to not like Saviour Machine... but I don't think you can say Saviour Machine's stuff is poorly concieved or executed.

I think I paid $17 for the Sin Disease CD (used). I couldn't find it cheaper on eBay at the time. I don't really like it, so I haven't made the time to listen to the only thing that matters...drums. I liked the Spy Glass Blue tracks I heard online.

I wonder if we could make Sam say, "BEHOLD, I am so goth, let's go shop at hot topic." And then have him sing a Saviour Machine song.

actually i can, because everything i've heard from saviour machine has made me laugh. it's like listening to stryper, godrocket, the entire genre of power metal, or even hangnail because they're dead serious, but that's what makes it such great comedy.

You would not be the first to give me a metric ton of shit for doing that record. Myself included. Although, I have made peace with myself. I'm very forgiving that way.

REALLY!?!? Huh. I happen to be a fan of SM and friends with Eric and his family, so I am biased. But I am more than a little surprised to hear you say that. And to think Eric and Cyndi consider you a friend. Crazy... Plus, it's a good album, and Saviour Machine has endured WAY more crap in the Christian music scene than Stavesacre (trust me, I was at the New Union show in Minneapolis when they were kicked off the stage, and if Eric ever writes a book, all you fans of Simplicity will be shocked at how easy Stavesacre has had it). So Sam, I'd think you'd have a sense of solidarity with another artist/band that is willing to push the boundaries and point out the hypocrisy in the Christian music scene. Crazy indeed... P.S. - The "Behold, Apocalypse" part was kinda funny. ETA - I don't mean to cause any trouble, but was just surprised at Sam's comment. I love, repsect and appreciate both bands and never figured I'd read something like this from Sam. Just disappointed he'd share that publicly if it was indeed true. And if it's a joke, well then I guess the joke is on me!

I think he's kind of joking. It is a great departure from his previous stuff. I think I had a similar expression (amazement) when I found out Sam was in SM. You just don't peg him for doing music like that.
Eric is very talented and is allowed to make music the way he'd like to. More power to him. I think he gets grief all the time about his type of music. But I bet he has some pretty loyal fans.

ask Sam about Proud Flesh in LA (was that Geddy Lee singing "Sink or Swim"-I still have the flyer) or his late lamented HS band in Decatur, IL -Shadows Don't Count (who has those tapes?). Tell him my dad died and that he always spoke highly of him even though they got into a fistfight. god bless, see ya soon Chuckles
