I'm a cross country and track runner. Anyone else share the same love/hate relationship? I ran cross country and track throughout high school and college and LOVED it. I trained for a few years out of college, but not anymore. I do a road race every once in awhile, but I will never touch my PRs again, so racing does nothing for me. I coach now, and love it almost as much as competing (middle school cross country and varsity swim at an independent boarding school). What is/was your best event?

Well I'm sorrta fast sprinter, but I have better inderence, so I'll probably be doing the 2 mile for track. For cross country its all the same 3 miles. I want to do the 400 yrd but I'm not sure if the coach will go for that. I'm not all that great, but this is my first year of real running and I've definitly improved. What were your best events/times?

I always enjoyed track when I was in school. I wasn't too bad. somewhat fast. I mainly did short track. I thought I was fast until I went up against other schools and realized the compition. Regardless though, I always enjoyed seeing who I was faster then.

Wow, thats really good. I would run the 1500, but the compition is a bit to stiff for me to do anything but average right now, but I think I can do alright in the 2 mile. 8:30? I'm more shooting for 11 minutes. I'll get better though. I've been running a lot this Christmas break, I've found that Stavesacre is good listening when I'm running.

It gets you in beastly shape, its challening, and you can eat almost whatever you want, if you run consistantly. And it builds character. Not many wimpy runners out there.

Former XCist, right here. Ran HORRIBLY, and was actually one of the worst in the country when I got around to running in college. It was me, then a guy with cerebral palsy. EEEK. Still...it shaped who I am. I would not trade it.

Know what you mean. I've taken my share of beatings. Cross Country is a humbling sport (not much of a game).

Never ran track, but ran three years of XC after I played football my freshman year. Loved it. Now every once in awhile I'll run for two months and stop. I'm very familiar with the soreness you get after your first couple runs in awhile .
