If you don't own this album, you are missing one of the single greatest compilations of songs ever brought together to form a new album. Making a record of new songs as good as this one is almost unheard of. I can name maybe 4 albums that are as complete and as good as this one....
1. Stavesacre - Friction 2. Goo Goo Dolls - Dizzy Up the Girl 3. Spoken - Echoes of the Spirit Still Dwell 4. Black Eyed Sceva - Way Before the Flood
Therefore, buy this cd.

I'll concur with this. That album is incredible all the way through. If you don't have it, you really are depriving yourself, and sadly, without even knowing it.

Hmmm there's some great songs, but there's also a couple I don't like so much (Circuitry, Sioux Lan Spirits, Solace). I think I prefer DBL and Truthless Heroes.
I agree with you on the Spoken album though. Stunning work throughout.

this is one of those albums that I can't keep out of my player. Every once in awhile I'm like, "Why don't I listen to something else for awhile?" a day later it's back in. Been that way since I bought it online when the early version came out. I got both versions and I've listened to the first one so much before the T&N one came out that I still have trouble with the track order (cuz its different). A song starts playin' and I'm like, "What? That one's not next!"
The only song that's not absolutely amazing on that CD is 3 Card, and maybe Circuitry, but that's probably because they're surrounded by perfection. For some reason I always have to listen to Breakneck Speed twice because it's such a perfectly crafted song. I'm not some jilted lover or anything, it's just a perfect song artistically speaking. Shadow on Me is another one that's just about as close to a perfect song as you can get.

I can't stand Truthless Heroes. It's my least favorite Project 86 album.

Circuitry is the only song I don't listen to.
I think that 3 Card is awesome. I laugh every time I hear it. It is a good song, yes, but it is so different from Project that it is funny.
Breakdown in 3/4 is absolutely crazy. Wow.
They are making a video for The Spy Hunter. I can't wait. I hope that song goes mainstream on MTV and the radio. This band also needs a big break, after the flop that occured with Truthless Heroes.

I would have to agree that 3 Card is funny for them. Are the lyrics on their website?
uh, dumb question, why I don't I just go look?

I heard the lyrics to 3 Card were Andrew's secret...but I read a topic not too long ago somewhere of people trying to decipher all the words. It's interesting.
And why do people have this thing against TH? I seriously thought it was one of the best CDs I bought that whole year. I still love every track.
And what are your thoughts on the Sefl-Titled? I just got it off e-bay maybe a month ago, but I haven't listened to it much yet. Run is an awesome song. So is Pipedream.

Their first album is really good, but its different. Listen to them now and they have changed SOOOO much. Like, they, as a band, have gotten better. I mean the guitarist and the bassist and the drummer are just better musicians now then they were then. BUT, the old stuff is still pretty dang good if you ask me.

Self-titled is quite possibly their best album...in that every song is very, very good. I have no complaints about a single song. If you like songs like that for motivation, it is the single greatest album ever.
The reason I think it is the best album by them goes like this: DBL: Star, and the final track, whatever that is called. 2 absolutely worthless songs. TH: nuff said. StBYBB: Circuitry.
I think this new album is their best yet. I am just saying that there isn't one bad song on the first one.

Being a musician (not a very good one) I listen closely to any new albums that i buy. I tend not to buy an album and sit there for easy listening. I dream about this music when I'm not sleeping. (obsession to obsession). While Songs to Burn Your Bridges By is an excellent album, I cannot say it is their best so far. I really dislike truthless heroes but I do give a couple of the songs off the album a nod. Drawing Black Lines is my favorite project86 album, with their selftitle coming in at second place. I agree, if you don't have Songs to Burn your Bridges by, you're missing out greatly.

Now maybe I'm venturing to far from "objective observer/art critic" to "real person", but THE reason Stavesacre is my favorite band is because of their lyrics. I identify with them and they speak to me. This happens to a lesser degree with P86 but nowhere do I least identify with their lyrics than on TH. Now I'm sure Andrew can understand this, because he tried to write that whole album as a kind of altar ego project. And it worked. Too well. Which is why most ordinary fans of the band (like me) don't like it as much as the stuff that is truly them, and therefore resonates more with us. I can appreciate the music and the artistic effort, but as far as actually enjoying the music, I think this is the main factor involved.
There's my little theory.

I was talking to a friend recently, who happens to be 36 year old mother of four while Stavesacre's one of her two favorite bands, and she said to me that it's (to her and I agree) the fact that Stavesacre are really a whole packeage. Their music is expertly crafted, they put on an awesome live show, the members are real (and not arrogant) and the lyrics are intelligent, intense, and speak of a lot of real experience and therefore wisdom. So her conclusion was that Stavesacre is "intelligent music for mature people, mature Christians."
And I must say, I agree with that. Ok.

I think that almost anybody can identify with the music, regardless of their path in life.

Oh, for certain. But I also think there's a certain... I don't know, element, that you can identify with a little more after you've been through a little more. Does that make sense? (Nor do I mean to sound elitist at all, if I come across that way.)

I know exactly what you mean. Seems like every time something big happens in my life, lyrics start meaning a whole lot more.

so since we're talking about p86's latest release ...
i got it. i think it's pretty good, considering that tragedy of a cd called Truthless Heroes.
when TH came out we were really pumped because DBL was EXCELLENT on all accounts and were greatly dissapointed. we felt that though andrew was taking this in a different direction [via viewpoint] it was not the p86 we knew and loved. it had some good songs though, and i'll give him credit there. there's a couple lines that i use every now and again. before STBYBB came out that's what we were left with, and i felt that was seriously lacking.
DBL is my favourite album, followed by STBYBB and then self-titled. though the sound is a lot more raw on the first one, i've got to say that it just doesn't match up with a more mature aggression they have now.
andrew's voice [much like mark's] remains unmatched and identifiable. the musical quality of the album is fantastic and flows very well throughout. two thumbs up.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I am going to have to dissagree with all of you about Truthless Heroes. I think it's a genius album and here's why; Project86 did something that as fans wouldn't expect and I applaud them for it. They created something that was different then any of their albums and had a great concept behind it. When I first heard it, it made me realize why I enjoy this band so much: They're not afraid to do what they want. I also enjoy the album not just for the music, but just for it's genius behind it. Like it's been said before, you ethier get or you don't and when I first heard it, I got it and still love it.

I've never been able to figure out what so many people hated so much about Truthless Heroes? I love that album. It's got some AWESOME songs on it, and I loved how they added to their sound with Randy's harmonies and melodies, he's got a great voice too. What is it that's so bad about TH? I just don't get it.
