Remember when Dirk had that custom Fender P-bass sunburst? It saddened me when he had the normal Active Jazz Bass (at least it looks normal from where I've seen it, it doesn't look custom). Nothing against J-basses, I have one and I love it. But, it has changed his sound a lot. Its not bad, but its different (Don't worry, Dirk, I still love you, it really doesn't matter what guitar you play).

Howdy Phil. That Pbass was just a standard sunburst. There wasn't anything custom done to it (I guess I added a different bridge). I loved that bass...but I like the way the Jazz bass sounds better. I hope you can forgive me....Dirk

Really? I thought you said on the way old message board that you had put some custom pickups in there. Eh, oh well. Keep'on a rockin. J-Basses are awesome. I've got a Marcus Miller Signature 4 string with sunburst (sunburst is my fav guitar color).

Listening to the new song I thought it was just an amp or cabc difference during the recording...but, I guess that satisfies that question in my mind. Listening to it it sounds like it's picking up the resonance of the wood rather than the string. I don't know though, i'm no bassist, Dirk is!

I started playing bass five years ago because of all those cool stavesacre licks. I play guitar now, but I remember what got it all started. I love hearing some of those old songs where the bass just really rings out.
